'People come into our lives to be our
teachers' - Steve Biddulph
It is often difficult to recall the actual
sources of one's learning. But over the years the
following people have directly or indirectly
provided insights, encouragement and/or
inspiration. Some are famous, others virtually
unknown.
Their public standing bears little
relationship to their contributions to the author's learning. The following come readily to
mind. There are many that I have failed to
notice and I apologise for failing to do justice
to the multitude of others who have taught me so
much along the way
- W Edwards Deming for his profound
insights into
- the huge potential to improve things
continuously and forever
- the value of attending to people,
systems & processes
- the significance of reducing variation
- Myron Tribus for his knowledge,
enthusiasm and commitment to making the world
a better place through education and the
application of quality (more...)
- Reuven Feuerstein for his knowledge
of
- what really prevents people from
thinking and learning
- and what might be done about it in order
to
- free people from the many self-fulfilling
assessment made of them
- Rob Palmer & Michael King for
their
- commitment, inspiration and support to
the author, and,
- work in building links between quality
and education in Australia
- Peter Senge for his inspirational
writing on
- systems
- dialogue
- paradigms
- Peter Block for his insights into
- our working relationships
- Joel Barker for his insights into
- the nature and operation of paradigms
- how they facilitate our thinking,
activity and development
- how they impede our thinking,
activity and development
AND ABOVE ALL are
the staff and students (and their families) that I have had the
pleasure and privilege of being with during my most rewarding career.
